Born Thomas Cruise Mapother IV in Saratoga, New York on July 3rd 1962, Cruise is one of the most highly-paid and popular actors of his generation. When he was young his family???which consisted of his mother and his three sisters???moved frequently, attending 15 different schools before enrolling in his New Jersey high school where he first tried acting. At age 18 he headed to New York to pursue his acting career and shortly there after appeared in Endless Love, The Outsiders, and Risky Business . 1986`s popular Top Gun solidified his box office appeal, which he followed up with memorable performances in such quintessential `80s films as Rain Man, Cocktail, and Born on the Fourth of the July.
