Gravitating away from her usual romantic comedies, she starred in When a Man Loves a Woman about an alcoholic wife and mother. She later returned to her typical cutesy films starring in French Kiss, You`ve Got Mail, and Kate and Leopold. Ryan was married to actor Dennis Quaid, but they have divorced. They have a son together. In January 2006, Meg Ryan adopted a baby girl.
