Starring in the 90s nighttime soap opera Melrose Place, she played the dramatic, deceiving, and grudge-holding Dr. Kimberly Shaw Mancini. When the series ended, Cross appeared in guest roles in several television shows (The King of Queens, Everwood, CSI.) She was cast as Bree Van De Kamp on Desperate Housewives. She plays a neurotic, obsessive compulsive apron-wearing housewife with two mischievous teenage children.
