The term style icon is frequently applied to Kate Moss, and rightly so. Discovered at age 14 at JFK airport while vacationing with her family, the British beauty(born January 16, 1974) made an instant impact when she broke onto the scene in 1989 with Corinne Day`s Summer of Love shoot for UK magazine, The Face. Her waifish figure.a stark contrast from the curvaceous supermodels who had previously ruled the scene, quickly became the ideal silhouette. Moss and her unique look remained popular throughout `90s, thanks to the highly-publicized Calvin Klein campaigns she starred in. Later, Moss was featured in major campaigns including those of Gucci, Dolce and Gabbana, Louis Vuitton, Versace, Roberto Cavalli, Chanel, David Yurman, Dior, Burberry, and Rimmel. Her off-camera style earned her accolades as well, as she perfected a unique, eclectic yet-still-elegant look. In 2006, it was reported that she was the second highest-paid model after Gisele Bunchen. After a brief hiatus due to her hard-partying ways, Moss returned to the scene in 2007 with a line of clothing designed for UK retailer TopShop, which produced a frenzy with her many loyal fans it was released in stores. After previously having long-term relationships with photographer Mario Sorrenti and actor Johnny Depp, Moss had a daughter, Lila, in 2002 with Dazed and Confused editor Jefferson Hack. The model is purportedly still involved in an tumultuous on-again-off-again relationship with Baby Shambles lead singer Pete Doherty.
