Jennifer Hudson is probably the last one who thought she`d win an Oscar before she won a Grammy but her performance in Dreamgirls was so fantastic that she did just that. The American Idol alum was cast as Effie White, a role that was popularized on Broadway by Jennifer Holliday, alongside Beyonce, Eddie Murphy and Jaime Foxx. Her powerful version of And I`m Telling You I`m Not Going was widely hailed as musical mastery and was Hudson`s first top ten hit. This year Hudson became the first African American singer to be on the cover of Vogue and is the fourth African American female to obtain an Academy Award. Expect to see Hudson opposite Sarah Jessica Parker in the Sex in the City movie as Carrie Bradshaw`s assistant and 2008`s Winged Creatures with Forest Whitaker, Dakota Fanning and Kate Beckinsale. The 25-year-old Hudson has been dating boyfriend James Peyton since 1999.
